The market for folding smartphones is in turmoil and among the producers whose next moves are expected there is also Xiaomi, of which it is just leaked a patent undoubtedly particular: this foldable would have a pop-up front camera.
Yesterday we saw how, in the iOS world, Appledespite recent rumors about a iPhone Airyou seem intent on take it easy. On this other side of the fence, however, Android OEMs appear increasingly determined to play their ambitious cards: in addition to Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, we must remember OPPO with its convincing OPPO Find N, Huawei, which has just tried us again with Huawei P50 PocketGoogle with its talked about Pixel Notepad, but also Xiaomi, which has already made a first attempt with Mi MIX Fold and seems ready to relaunch.
About Xiaomithe leaker Sam (@Shadow_Leak) shared pictures on Twitter that he says come from a patent recently filed by the Chinese manufacturer. The folding smartphone depicted in the images you see below takes up the format made famous by Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and already used on the first Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold, but has a peculiarity: a dual pop-up camera to be used for selfies with the smartphone open.
The device shows two displays: one smaller outside (perhaps too small, Ed) and a large seamless interior. On the back there is one triple camerabut the most particular detail is undoubtedly the one mentioned above: while Samsung with the Galaxy Z Fold3 has played the card of the in-display camera reaching a quality that is not exactly exciting, Xiaomi would seem willing to focus a lot on this feature and, although missing detailed information, a dual pop-up camera could come in very handy for quality video calling as well.
In addition to the features already mentioned, according to the leaker this folding smartphone from Xiaomi should also be characterized by a large battery.
