Qualcomm advances, Mediatek holds on. This is the result of the report of Counterpoint on SoC (System on Chip) shipments for smartphones in the last quarter of 2021.
MediaTek led the smartphone SoC market with a share of 33%, due to a decrease in sales volumes due to high shipments in the first half and inventory corrections by Chinese smartphone OEMs. One is expected for the Chinese company growth in 2022 due to Dimensity 9000 and the rise of 5G in new markets as well as the continued demand for LTE.
For its part, Qualcomm had a very good quarter, with a growth of 18% on a quarterly basis and of 33% on an annual basisnumbers that have allowed the company to achieve one market share of 30%.
According to Counterpoint Research Director Dale Gai, the numbers of Qualcomm are also owed a 76% stake in chip shipments5G led by Apple’s iPhone 13 and 12 series and wallet Premium Android.
