The considerations of the CEO of Honor
In a recent interview Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor, made some reflections on the leaflet market. He says that some manufacturers have got the wrong idea of how a folding smartphone should be. According to his statements, a folding device should be two devices in one, and not a phone shrunk to a single useless display. In essence, the CEO of Honor considers, how only sensible form factor for a leaflet, the one with a book fold like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and OPPO Find N, and not those with clamshell designs like Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 or Huawei P50 Pocket.
During the interview Zhao Ming also talks about the technological achievements obtained by its brand in the development of their first folding, Honor’s intention is in fact to integrate a screen the size of a tablet into the body of a smartphone. This was possible, according to him, thanks to new generation hinges developed by them and integrated into Magic V, with the consequent benefit of being able to minimize the creasing of the screen (annoying feature in folding smartphones) and enhance the multitasking and browsing experience for the user. Furthermore, particular attention was also paid to the ergonomics of the device, to guarantee the user an easy transition from the outside to the inside of the smartphone.
In conclusion, although there is no official press release on the matter, it is evident from the CEO’s words as Honor Magic V will have a book fold design.
