For many months now there have been rumors that Google would be ready to take the field directly in the sector of smartwatch with its own model, identified with the name of Google Pixel Watch but, up to now, the Mountain View giant has not yet taken that step.
At the end of last year, there was a rumor that Google plans to announce its first smartwatch in the spring and Jon Prosser in the last few hours it seems to have confirmed this indiscretion, adding an alleged launch date.
Google Pixel Watch could really arrive in the spring
According to what Prosser revealed on Twitter, in fact, the Mountain View giant has plans to launch Google Pixel Watch Thursday 26 May 2022 and this is the first time that a precise date has emerged for the device (even if the company is known for not getting too much trouble in postponing its programs if necessary).
Wanting to give credit to this indiscretion, at this point it is to be assumed that May 26 is also the date chosen by the Mountain View giant for the start of Google I / O 2022, awaited annual appointment on the occasion of which the Google team announces the news on which it is working.
And yes, if on the occasion of Google I / O 2021 the company presented Wear OS 3, this year this event could become the ideal stage for the launch of the first Google smartwatch that will be based precisely on this platform, perhaps with the aim of offering a demonstration of its potential and ability to compete with those of the competition, to starting with Apple watchOS.
It will be interesting to find out if for its first smartwatch Google will decide to focus on a first-class technical equipment or if, on the contrary, it will focus above all on the optimization between hardware and software, as it did for the smartphones of the Google Pixel series.
