In recent months, rumors have intensified around a possible sale of the CW, the historic Warner network as well as the home of the main Arrowverse shows that could end up on streaming platforms.
Where the Arrowverse shows might end
The most accredited seems to be HBO Max which, by the way, already owns the rights to Superman & Lois, Batwoman and Stargirl. In a recent interview with the microphones of The Hollywood Reporter Casey Bloys, HBO Max Executive, commented on this possibility. Here are his statements:
“We’ll see what happens in the future, I can’t tell you at the moment. I know for sure, though, that the CW shows are performing well on HBO Max and are an added value for us. I am not involved in the negotiations with CW and Nextsar, so I can only speak in a general way but, again, for us they are a great thing ”.
After the big hits of series like Titans, Doom Patrol and Peacemaker (recently renewed for a second season), HBO Max it could therefore enrich its catalog of DC Comics properties. Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lighting And Legends of Tomorrowfor the time being, they continue to be released on Netflix after airing on TV.
Still to stay on the subject of renewals, Grant Gustin would now be close to renewing his contract to return as the Flash in the ninth season, at the moment not yet announced. The actor allegedly agreed to sign a one-year contract with a salary of 200 thousand dollars per episode: should only take part in 15 of them. There was also a multi-year offer on the table, but it would be turned down.
WarnerMedia, meanwhile, will be spun off from parent company AT&T and merged with Discovery Inc. to create a new behemoth: Warner Bros. Discovery. The idea is to challenge established industry top players such as Disney + and Netflix.
