What changes compared to the previous update that took place a few months later? Porsche Macan is a Segment D SUV and is positioned in the same category as Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC and Alfa Romeo Stelvio; the Teutonic SUV measures, in its most recent version, 4,726 mm in length, 2,027 mm in width (with mirrors open) with a wheelbase of 2,807 mm. The trunk is large and reaches 458 liters in standard configuration; volume that can reach 958 with the seats folded down.
The interioras anticipated, now benefit from a stylistic update with a renewed central tunnel which includes a series of controls dedicated to trim adjustment, exhaust setting, climate management, seats and much more. The finishes are excellent as can be expected from a car of this caliber and the quantity of Alcantara on board is high; from the door panels to the armrest and steering wheel. The digital entertainment system it can be used on the 10.9-inch central display and includes, among the numerous functions, also an excellent quality navigator, able to offer clear indications and with the right advance. The organization of commands and settings is rational and practical, the learning curve will take no more than a few moments. Absent, almost unjustified, compatibility with Apple CarPlay available as an option at a price of around 300 euros. The on-board habitability is also good, Macan GTS is in fact a valid SUV for making long-distance journeys with the whole family. The aerodynamic rustles are barely perceptible, while the rolling noise caused by the huge 21 ”tires is more evident especially on the motorway.
Numerous assistants and driving aids that allow both a precise vision of the spaces and a safe guide in all areas. The adaptive cruise controlunlike other recently tested systems, it is fluid and well calibrated therefore free from sudden braking and jerks during acceleration. The camera system convinces and, on several occasions, has allowed us to understand what was happening around us. Despite its size, visibility is almost always optimal.
The behavior on the road despite the “raised” setting of the Porsche Macan GTS is surprising; the German SUV manages to be both practical for everyday driving both dynamic and sharp for a sportier use. The engine The 2.9-liter V6-cylinder with 440 hp is brilliantwith an excellent starting point and, thanks to seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox, can climb smoothly in any situation. The twin-turbo, with the right speed, manages to stick to the seat but suffers, in our opinion, from a slight “turbo lag” measurable especially in the acceleration phases at full throttle.
The power and torque of over 500 Nm allow you to achieve speeds higher than the Highway Code in a very short time, almost without realizing it; this is a condition common to many supercars (or solutions with a lot of horsepower), but here even more accentuated by the excellent balance between silence and performance. Calmness that naturally (or fortunately?) Disappears as soon as you decide to select the Sport mode (and Sport +) which opens the exhaust valves e unleashes the full power of the engine. There traction integral, with prevalence at the rear, ensures aexcellent thrust by millimetrically modulating the torque on the individual wheels; the steering appears precise, direct and customizable according to the driving mode set. The braking system is adapted to the size of the car, with self-ventilated six-piston discs of 390 mm at the front and 356 mm at the rear.
THE consumption is in line with performance and above all to the qualities of the engine; by carefully monitoring the use of gas we were able to obtain a average consumption of about 8 km / ldriving in a more sporty way we also reached i 3 km / l. Thanks to the nature of the car, we are also quite certain that consumption is not exactly the main focus of a hypothetical buyer; in any case, with a full tank and a mixed use of highway and city, in various driving modes, we managed to cover just over 500 km (75 liters of tank).
Unfortunately we didn’t have the chance to test it on the track, but we believe that the ideal (or more satisfying) environment of the Macan GTS is right between the curbs and in the mixed; for a more urban use, we think that the S declination or the brand new T are the most suitable and “manageable”. Definitely, we appreciated the qualities of the Porsche Macan GTS and if for you a cost of about 90 thousand euros does not represent a particular obstacle, then we advise you to evaluate this powerful SUV of segment D.
