Apple sees a slump as Samsung increases its market share in the lucrative U.S. tablet market. However, things may soon change with the new models arriving after the March 8 keynote.
At the event Unpacked recently concluded, Samsung not only officially presented the series Galaxy S22, but also the Galaxy Tab S8 series. The Tab S8 range is the company’s premium tablet line-up.
Samsung is catching up in the world of tablets
When it comes to the Android tablet market, Samsung’s name is always at the fore. And it seems that its products have found the right agreement with the public.
According to a research report by Canalysthe South Korean giant is the only brand it has witnessed an upward trend in the U.S. tablet market in 2021. Other players, such as Apple and Amazon, have all seen a drop in the number of shipments. Samsung’s device shipments grew 4.5% in 2021.
The Korean company’s market share in the United States increased by 2.4 percentage points last year. It has gone from representing 15% of the market to reaching 17.4% by the end of 2021. It is about an impressive performance when you consider that tablet shipments to the United States fell 10% last year.
Apple and Amazon’s U.S. tablet market share fell 17.3% and 7.9%, respectively. Only the S22 maker has managed to increase its share of the cake despite adverse conditions. Speaking of the overall market share in 2021, Apple led the group with 42.1% with Amazon in second place with a share of 23.9%.
Notably, these sales numbers do not include shipments of the recently released Tab S8 series from the brand which is experiencing incredible demand. It is entirely possible that the company could see further growth in the smart tablet market in the United States (and beyond) this year.
