The December 2021 update for Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro brought the first Feature Drop, but it was not the panacea for all evils, far from it: the connectivity problems encountered by several users forced Big G to stop releasing it.
Although a first remedy was not long in coming, the mysterious slowdown in the rollout was a clear indication that Google was keeping an eye on the situation. Well now there is nothing more to hide: the Mountain View giant has officially made it known that it has paused the release of the update of December 2021 for Google Pixel 6 And Google Pixel 6 Pro (here is our review). The cause is constituted precisely by the aforementioned connectivity problems.
In a post on the official forum, the Big G team does not provide any details on the duration of this break, which should be definitive anyway. The text states that the fix necessary has been identified and that the same will be made available with the release of the update in January 2022. This new update – we read – will also contain all the fixes and improvements that originally should have arrived with that of December.
In light of the usual modus operandi Google, it is safe to assume that the new update will start on the first Monday of the month, which in this case falls on January 3, 2022.
Here is the full text of the message addressed to the Pixel Community:
“The Pixel team paused the December software update to Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices after some users reported calls were dropping or disconnecting. We have now identified a fix that will roll out in a software update by late January. This update will also include all the fixes and improvements that were originally planned in December. If you received the December software update on Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro and are still experiencing mobile connectivity issues, you can revert to the previous software version using the Android Flash Tool (flash.android.com) and performing a factory reset. Please back up your phone before restoring to the previous software version. If you are not experiencing mobile connectivity issues, no action is required. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we roll out the fix.
Your Pixel Community Manager,
Camille“
