Apple could further renew its range of devices macOS proposing a completely new solution for his product line. A recent patentin fact, it anticipates the possible realization of one keyboard with a computer inside (processor, memories and all other components included). Such a device would not need additional hardware (other than a mouse and a screen) to function.
It would be enough to connect the keyboard-computer to a monitor to be able to access macOS completely and without limitations. This “MacBoard“, As it is already called on the net, it could combine the Mac Mini with the Magic Keyboard, giving life to a new generation of macOS devices. The patent provides for a link via a single USB-C cable. This cable could be used both for the passage of data and the audio / video stream as well as for the power supply (assuming the absence of a battery integrated in the keyboard).
It should also be noted that the documentation of the new patent created by Apple anticipates possible evolutions of this form factor that could become part of the future of macOS. For example, it would be possible tointegration of a trackpad on the keyboard, to eliminate the need for a mouse. Another option sees the possibility of fold the keyboard to simplify transport as much as possible.
For now, there is no information regarding the making of a new Mac based on this patent. In any case, it is a solution that, in the future, could carve out its space within the increasingly complex and complete range of Apple products, which after revolutionizing the sector with the launch of its M1 processors it might try to introduce other form factors to the computer world as well.
