After introducing one of the most disturbing figures in the horror world as a killer, the Dead by Daylight franchise is preparing to receive a great news. To reveal the development team’s ambitious projects, a trademark registration, unearthed by Eurogamer.net colleagues.
As reported by the British press, Behavior Interactive has indeed registered the trademark Hooked On You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim. As you could understand from the title, it would be something related to the classic “dating sim” games. It is not clear, however, whether it is a spin-off or an extra content for the main title, such as a DLC or a new game mode.
There are several reasons why a Dead by Daylight dating sim could become a big hit. The first is that the players are quite open to the craziest news (excluding non-fungible tokens). The second is that the game is very popular in the LGBTQ + community, which could very well respond to a possible spin-off of the genre by Behavior. Clearly these are just hypotheses, but considering how much developers try to diversify their products, such a dating sim could really be a reality. The hypothesis that this is a joke, however, is almost to be excluded, given the enormous bureaucracy required to register a single trademark.
Dead by Daylight is still one of the most played and most followed titles on Twitch today. Behavior home multiplayer has certainly been able to carve out an important space in the world of video games and with the numbers recorded to date, a possible sequel is obviously to be excluded. The space for a spin-off, even the most likely one, could actually be there. Keep following Tom’s Hardware for all the news and announcements in the pipeline from the world of video games.
