Lenovo @ MWC 2022: IdeaPad Gaming 3, Snapdragon 8cx Gen3 laptop and more

Lenovo opens this MWC 2022 in a big way and announces its new range of notebooks based on the latest Intel and AMD processors, without forgetting the segment of “Always Connected” PC based on the Snapdragon 8cx 3rd gen platform presented by Qualcomm last December. Several products presented, ranging from gaming, passing to productivity and performance on the move, also winking at ultraportable and those users who look primarily to autonomy; in short, Lenovo has something for all tastes, let’s see in detail the announced solutions:

LENOVO IDEAPAD GAMING 3 / 3i – MOUSE LEGION M600S


Let’s start with the new version of the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 And IdeaPad Gaming 3i, devices aimed above all at the youngest who look to design but also to performance and the possibility of playing at their best without spending too much. As for the previous generation, these are therefore midrange products that, at the same time, raise the performance level thanks to the adoption of the latest Intel Core 12th gen H platforms and AMD Ryzen 6000flanked by displays with high refresh and graphics card of the GeForce RTX 30 series.

Lenovo does not completely overturn the design, but going to optimize the dissipation system and at the same time offering different colors of the chassis. The two new models, respectively with Intel (Ideapad Gaming 3i) and AMD (IdeaPad Gaming 3) platforms, arrive in further two variants with 15.6-inch and 16-inch displays; the Intel model is slightly more pushed for CPU and GPU, while the solution with AMD Ryzen 6000 is more “contained” in terms of TDP.


Going into detail, IdeaPad Gaming 3i is equipped with a Core i7-12700H with 32GB of DDR4 RAM (up to) and 1TB NVMe SSD storage; the graphic component, in addition to the integrated one, can be one GeForce RTX 3060 (105W) or an Intel Arc (unfortunately unspecified). The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 instead count on a flaming one Ryzen 7 6800H which, in addition to having an excellent RDNA2 integrated GPU, can be combined with a GeForce RTX 3050 (also 85W laptop version).

The rest of the features are essentially identical, except for the presence of Thunderbolt 4 on Intel; also the display is obviously the same, it comes to FHD (15.6 “) IPS panels or QHD / QHD + (16 “) with update frequency up to 165Hz. Last note on the purely physical specifications: the two 15.6 “models weigh 2.4Kg for 21.8mm thickness, the 16” variants reach 2.5Kg but with a slightly lower thickness (20.9mm).

Still from a gaming perspective, Lenovo also announces the Legion M600s Qi Wireless mousehigh-performance peripheral with a careful and ergonomic (ambidextrous) design This mouse, built with recycled plastic, offers fast charging options (7 hours of autonomy with 10 minutes of charge, complete in 2 hours) and a 19,000 DPI Pixart 3370 sensor. On board we also find optical micro-switches, possibility to program the six buttons and RGB backlight in 16.8 million colors.

Not just gaming and consumer notebooks for the Chinese company that also offers a restyling of its best-known products, those to be understood aimed at those who work on the move or are looking for a high-performance solution that can guarantee adequate autonomy together with the latest standards generation. Among the most interesting news we certainly find ThinkPad X13sthe world’s first laptop equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx third generation platform. We are talking about a system that falls into the category of PCs always connected, which obviously marries Windows 11 Pro, but also offers 5G connectivity and an autonomy that – according to the company – reaches 28 hours.


The new one is also highly anticipated ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 5, a high-profile notebook designed for professionals that does not compromise on design, quality and above all for performance. The ThinkPad series doesn’t stop there, Lenovo also introduces mobile workstations ThinkPad P16s And ThinkPad P14s Gen 3 (updated), always with the latest Intel processors and NVIDIA T550 graphics, all optimized for environments such as AutoCAD, Revit or SolidWorks. Two new models also for the ThinkBook series, in detail ThinkBook 14s Yoga Gen 2 And ThinkBook 13s Gen 4 i, products that receive substantially the same treatment as the ThinkPad “brothers”, while maintaining distinctive traits such as the aluminum chassis and the design with thin bezels; the reference target remains productivity and multitasking, always with an eye to safety.

Moving instead to the segment of convertible and so-called detachables, Lenovo proposes IdeaPad Flex 5i And IdeaPad Flex 5available with 14 and 16-inch displays and Windows 11 operating system, as well as IdeaPad Duet 5i (with detachable keyboard) characterized, however, by a 12-inch panel (always Intel platform).
