On March 8, Mazda will debut its new CX-60 SUV which will be marketed in Europe and obviously also in Italy. A very important model as it will be the first of the Japanese car manufacturer to be equipped with a Plug-in powertrain. After sharing a teaser showing a detail of the optical group, the manufacturer showed a first glimpse of the interior, telling something more about the passenger compartment.
The brand makes it known that the designers have made it stylish and high quality interior which combine traditional methods and new technologies.
The CX-60 introduces for the first time the ideas of Kaichô, the harmony that comes from mixing different materials and textures, including maple wood, nappa leather, Japanese fabrics and chrome details, and of Musubu, the an exclusively Japanese way of binding fabrics that was the inspiration for the seams of the dashboard.
For what concerns the exterior, however, the manufacturer says that the look is the most recent development of the Kodo, the Mazda design philosophy that characterizes its cars. In the previous teaser we had seen that the new light unit of the SUV would be divided into two parts. A choice to give the car more character and differentiate it from the other SUV models already in the range.
As for the biggest novelty of the CX-60 and that is its Plug-in powertrain, for the moment we only know that there will be a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder combined with an electric motor. There combined power will be over 300 hp. The CX-60 will be just the first of two SUV models Mazda will bring to Europe. Next year the CX-80 will make its debut, which will be characterized by larger dimensions and the possibility of being able to accommodate up to 7 people.
The new Mazda CX-60 PHEV will be the new flagship of the Japanese brand’s European range of SUVs. All that remains is to wait until March 8 to discover all the secrets of the new SUV.
