In these hours the technical specifications of the new MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor have been leaked; we know that this chipset is expected to debut on a Redmi home phone over the next month.
An informant provided key specs for the upcoming chipset Dimensity 8100 of the Taiwanese giant and speculates that the SoC could debut next month on a device from Redmi, the Xiaomi sub brand.
The Weibo tipster uses the nickname Digital Chat Station and claims the Dimensity 8100 will have four Cortex-A78 cores that could peak at 2.85 GHz along with four Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz.
There are some doubts about the actual GPU specs between the G610 MC5 and G510 MC6. The D8100 is built through TSMC’s 5nm manufacturing process and will enjoy support for both LDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.
Digital Chat Station has also provided some performance data on the Dimensity 8100 which indicates that it could perfectly fit (and therefore challenge, accordingly) Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor that debuted last year.
The performance results and general spec sheet suggest the likelihood that the Dimensity 8100 is an upper-mid-range smartphone chip and could be at the higher end of the segment. Practically within the so-called “flagship killers”.
While there are currently no ways to establish the authenticity of the leak, the details released are coming together and following a similar trajectory to that of the Dimensity 8000 benchmarks that emerged days ago. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the chip will actually debut on a Redmi smartphone and we do not know the exact name of the smartphone specified.
It could be a terminal from the K50 family, but also from another flagship smartphone family; at the moment we don’t know, but we are really curious to find out.
