Samsung’s Neo QLED 2022 TV range available in Europe from 6 April

The Samsung Neo QLED 8K and Ultra HD TV range, announced at CES 2022, will be available in Europe starting April 6, while pre-orders will open on March 16th. The news comes directly from the Korean giant through a press release published in the news on the British site. However, we are not talking about the United Kingdom only: Samsung itself specifies that the announcement concerns Europe. The series arriving in the Old Continent should be six in all, although obviously we await confirmation for Italy: the distribution is not always uniform in all countries (some cuts or lines may not arrive in all countries).

Three of the Neo QLEDs have 8K resolution while the other three are Ultra HD:

Neo QLED 8K

  • QN900B: 65 “, 75”, 85 “
  • QN800B: 65 “, 75”, 85 “
  • QN700B: 55 ″, 65 ″, 75 ″

Neo QLED Ultra HD

  • QN95B: 55 “, 65”, 75 “, 85”
  • QN90B: 43 “, 50”, 55 “, 65”, 75 “, 85”
  • QN85B: 55 “, 65”, 75 “, 85”

We remind you that the Neo QLEDs are Full LED Array LCDs with local dimming equipped with a backlight with Mini LED (in this guide we explain how it works). The equipment includes the Quantum Matrix Technology, a proprietary solution that serves to optimize the emission of light from the tiny diodes and to model their shape. The main novelty, on a technical level, is the 14-bit luminance controla change that allows you to manage the Mini LEDs with greater precision than the 12-bit of the Neo QLED 2021.

Switching to 14-bit results in greater granularity in diode control and better grayscale reproduction: the number of shades that can be represented rises from 4,096 to 16,384. Also new is the Shape Adaptive Light Technology, a function that uses artificial intelligence (here we see how it is implemented by Samsung) to analyze the shapes, lines and surfaces contained within the images. The data obtained are used for check in real time the amplitude with which the Mini LEDs emit light: Neo QLED 2022s can thus adapt their shape to what is to be shown on the screen.

On the audio side, the support to the Dolby Atmos, until now not present on Samsung products. The positioning of sounds in the environment is reconstructed through technology Object Tracking Sound (OTS), present in various forms, more or less evolved, throughout the range. In its most sophisticated version, the OTS rests on one 6.2.4 channel configurationwith two additional speakers placed near the upper side and facing upwards, in order to expand the sound even vertically.

There is obviously a large array of functions: we find the Smart TV Tizen with an updated interface that now takes up the whole screen and offering free content available through Samsung TV Plus. For video game fans there is the Motion Xcelerator to increase the resolution in moving images and the Gaming Hub (coming this summer), a control center that makes all the main settings accessible more quickly. On various models the refresh rate reaches 144 Hz in Ultra HD.

At the moment we do not yet have all the technical characteristics and prices for Italy. The presentation of the TV range will arrive over the next few weeks.
