Silent Hill, the official website is no longer in Konami’s hands

We don’t know if Silent Hill will come back for real. The rumors tell us yes, the more realistic, on the other hand, have lost all hope. However, it is certainly curious what happened to the official website of the series, given that for a few hours it is no longer in Konami’s hands. No, we are not talking about a hacker attack or a transfer of ownership to another team or publisher, but a decidedly stranger story.

As reported on several websites such as Neogaf, in fact, the domain of the official Silent Hill website was simply for sale. Translated? Konami has never renewed its rights and has never decided to preserve it somehow. A clear sign, probably, of how much the gaming division of the Japanese publisher and developer is perhaps no longer so willing to keep a brand like that of the horror saga, very different from Metal Gear Solid, which still continues to bring money into the coffers of the society, obviously thanks to a very recent last “canonical” chapter.

A provocation to Konami now appears on the Silent Hill website: chi bought it posted a screenshot of Masahiro Ito’s tweet. The twitter, dating back to February 20, 2022, has become quite famous given the content, where Ito declared himself repentant of the creation of Pyramid Head, one of the most iconic enemies of the saga.

If Konami will buy back the website of Silent Hill we cannot know. Certainly, however, the little attention paid to this content will go down in history: if really the publisher and developer who owns the rights does not even bother to renew them, perhaps there is not really the will to return to explore the franchise. In short, every announcement relating to a possible revival now seems to appear further and further away. Should we give up all hope?
