Super Device: Huawei announces a new era of collaboration between devices

Collaboration and dialogue between different types of devices is the goal of Huawei that al Mobile World Congress announced “Super Device for the Smart Office”, a new solution that definitely improves connectivity compared to the previous ones. This software solution, a note reads, is in line with Huawei’s goal of building one for its devices Seamless AI Lifeor “an even more interconnected and intelligent user experience within five main scenarios: Health & Fitness, Easy Travel, Smart Office, Entertainment, Smart Home”.

One of the most common scenarios to date sees consumers struggling with two different and fragmented ecosystems: laptops for work and smartphones for entertainment. In the absence of single devices that fully support all of one user’s daily needs, the ability of devices to harness the strengths of the other and create a single, unified experience has become more important than ever. This factor is particularly important when considering the growing demand to maintain productivity while on the move.

There collaboration between devices allows users to connect multiple devices to a single activity while ecosystem integration bridge the gap between Windows and mobile platforms. Huawei’s ultimate goal is precisely to allow users a digitally efficient working life experience through the synergy of its two main skills: Cross-Device Collaboration And Ecosystem Integration.

According to what was stated by Pier Giorgio FurcasDeputy General Manager of Huawei CBG Italia,

“The Super Device is a concept that goes beyond the individual functionality of the ecosystem products. The result of the commitment of recent years of R&D, the Super Device is a solution that brings the experience of individual Huawei devices to the maximum, to meet the renewed needs of consumers in different life scenarios. Such an integrated collaboration between hardware and software, and between different devices, allows a complete smart office experience. Huawei is moving fast to provide professionals with the right means to meet the ways of working of the future, heralding a new approach that will require the total integration of all devices to unleash creativity and communicate better. “

SUPER DEVICE

Huawei has long been trying to simplify the connection between devices. In 2018, we remember, developed the OneHop function to transfer smartphone files to PC more easily. In 2020, however, introduced Multi-Screen Collaboration which allows the multiscreen collaboration between two devices as PC-tablet, PC-smartphone and tablet-smartphone, making it possible, for example, to use the video camera and microphone of the PC as if they were connected to the smartphone or to take advantage of native PC applications to directly open files or hyperlinks on the smartphone .

Based on these experiences, the Super Device functionlaunched for the first time in 2021 within the Smart Office, allows all compatible devices to work as if they were a single device.

Super Device, available on Huawei PCs through the dedicated interface in the PC Control Center, allows quick access to phone images and files, as well as smart screen connectivity for presentations. In addition, with the Pop-Up Pairing function, a Huawei PC can also quickly connect to Huawei’s wireless headphones, Bluetooth speakers, mouse and keyboard, and printers.

Once connected, the smartphone will be reachable from a window on the desktop allowing users to access all contents, even via drag and drop, and interact with it via the PC user interface. In addition, with Multi-Screen Collaboration, up to three mobile applications can be opened directly on the PC. All smartphone file changes made via PC are automatically saved, ready to be shared.

SUPER DEVICE + TABLET

With Super Device PC + Tablet the speech is similar. By connecting a tablet to the compatible PC, it is recognized as an external drive, allowing free transfer and management of files between devices via drag-and-drop or copy and paste.

This feature supports three connection modes, each of which suits distinct use cases:

  • Mirror: the PC screen is mirrored on the tablet display. Any content written or drawn with the M-Pencil on the HUAWEI MatePad is reflected in real time on the PC – a powerful feature that helps users make the most of professional design software.
  • Extend: The PC display is extended to the tablet, with each display showing different content. This mode turns your tablet into an external monitor for your PC, improving productivity with more screen space.
  • Collaborate: tablet files can be managed directly from the PC.

SUPER DEVICE + MATEVIEW

By connecting a Huawei PC to a MateView monitor, through the Super Device function you can watch presentations in Mirror mode, replicating the screen, and Extend which also allows you to take notes while another activity is carried out on the larger display.

This paired Super Device allows you to go beyond the PC screen size when you need a bigger screen, both for increased productivity and a pleasant moment watching your favorite entertainment on an advanced screen.

AVAILABILITY

Support for Super Device functionality it will extend to previous Huawei PC models, as long as users update to the latest version. In the near future, Huawei plans to continue adding support across more devices.
