Volvo prepares a decisive acceleration of his electrification program which will lead the brand to become completely zero emissions by 2030. There are several projects in the pipeline and several new products are expected to arrive over the next few years that will significantly enrich the range.
Volvo plans to launch five electric cars and two plug-in hybrids over the next few years. Among the electric models there will be several crossovers and SUVs, including the new generation of the Volvo XC90. There is also a sedan, an evolution of the S90, and a wagon in the pipeline. Volvo has already confirmed that the future range will not only consist of SUVs despite the many requests from the market for this particular type of vehicle.
One of the main additions to Volvo’s electrified range will be the new SUV that will position itself between XC60 and XC90. The new model will be an important reference in the future offering and will be produced, starting in 2024, at the Volvo plant in South Carolina.
The first target for Volvo’s electrification program is set for 2025. By the end of the year, in fact50% of the brand’s sales will be electric cars while the remaining 50% will be represented by hybrid cars.
Subsequently, the hybrids will leave room for the electric ones that will make up the whole range of the brand. Volvo aims to become an absolute reference in the premium electric car market. To achieve this goal, it will be necessary to accelerate the electrification program with the innovations arriving in the coming years.
