With the arrival of the Xiaomi range 12 in Europe ever closer, the first rumors about the rest of the line-up begin to leak: together with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which will have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 “plus” on board, the first renderings of the Xiaomi 12 Litethe mid-range that has been accompanying flagships for years with the aim of providing the same user experience at a much lower price.
Based on the news provided by the site Xiaomiui the Xiaomi 12 Lite will be the “little one” of the house in name, but not in fact: the device would inherit most of its specifications from the Xiaomi CIVIa model that never arrived in Europe that stands out for its wide range display from 6.55 intherefore higher than the Xiaomi 12 base.
The renderings made by the Xiaomiui team show a device that, at least seen from the back, is extremely similar at the top of the range from which it derives; the same cannot be said of the data sheet. The Xiaomi 12 Lite, indicated with the code name “taoyao” in the internal documentation, will in fact present the aforementioned large 6.55-inch display OLED with refresh rate up to 120Hz and integrated fingerprint reader.
To differentiate the Xiaomi 12 Lite from the rest of the range, including the “quasi-flagship” Xiaomi 12X which has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor on board, it is precisely the chip: inside this smartphone will most likely present the SoC Snapdragon 778G +or in any case belonging to the series 7intended precisely for the medium-high price range.
There is no shortage, aboard the Xiaomi 12 Lite, cameras respectable: you will certainly feel the lack of optical stabilization present in this year’s flagships, but there will still be a configuration on board triple lens with a main sensor Samsung ISOCELL GW3 64MP, an ultra-wide-angle camera and a macro sensor.
Like the rest of the range, the Xiaomi 12 will also be distributed in version Global with the interface on board MIUI 13 based on Android 12. The brand seems to have abandoned the possibility of marketing this smartphone also on the Asian market, as it seems to have been filed another very interesting project: lo Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoomwhich would have combined the features of this smartphone with a useful zoom camera.
Xiaomi has therefore abandoned the idea of competing directly with the realme 9 Pro + with a cameraphone economical and compact, focusing instead on the potential of a display wider for entertainment and productivity. For the moment we do not know the date official presentation of the Xiaomi 12 Lite, which should arrive anyway in the course of 2022.
