Mercedes just a few days ago brought the AMG version of its EQE electric sedan to its debut. As we know, the plans of the German manufacturer are to also launch the SUV variant of this electric. According to some information, the presentation is expected in November at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The EQE SUV will also be offered in one high-performance variant signed by AMG. This model had been intercepted on the road during some tests not too long ago. Now, however, they arrive new spy photos which show a very interesting detail of that car.
WINTER TESTS
The SUV was photographed during the classic winter tests in Northern Europe. We know that these tests are useful for car manufacturers to thoroughly test the mechanics of their new cars. In the case of electric, they are even more important because it is possible to verify the functioning of the thermal management of the battery and of the charging in conditions of intense cold.
The pictures are interesting because they show that the SUV it will have 4 steering wheels. The newly introduced AMG EQE sedan features rear-wheel steering by up to 3.6 degrees. Images of the SUV appear to show a higher steering angle. We will understand this technical feature better as soon as Mercedes brings this car to its debut. In any case, thanks to this solution, the AMG EQE SUV will be able to count on better driving behavior in some contexts.
It is unclear in how many versions the AMG EQE SUV will be offered. The sedan is offered in two power levels. It is possible that for the SUV the focus is only on the more powerful variant with double engine which on the sedan is capable of delivering up to 505 kW (687 hp) and 1,000 Nm. All powered by a 90.6 kWh battery (usable).
The spy images do not allow you to observe particular elements of the look but the AMG model will certainly be characterized by a series of dedicated details such as the AMG-specific Black Panel radiator grille with vertical chromed strips. Whether it is the AMG variant can be understood from the alloy wheels inside which the braking system of the high-performance models stands out.
At the moment it is unclear whether the AMG version of the SUV will debut with the “standard” one or at a later date. More news will certainly emerge over the next few months.
