Acciona closed the year 2021 with a net profit of 332 million euros, which represents a reduction of 14.2% compared to the previous year, due to the fact that in 2020 it recorded several positive impacts related to the reversal of provisions previously made on certain assets .
Excluding these extraordinary items, as well as the 67 million euros that were also recorded in 2020 for a favorable ruling on the Spanish hydraulic canon, the profit would have increased by 62.8% in comparable terms, as explained by the company in its income statement.
Total revenues amounted to 8,104 million euros, 25% higher than the previous year, while at the same time boosting its gross operating profit (Ebitda) by 31%, to 1,483 million euros.
By business, the Infrastructure division grew by 24% and recorded a record total order book of 18,096 million. During the year, it obtained new awards worth 8,546 million euros, of which 6,060 million corresponded to Construction or Water projects.
By geographical areas, 27% of this portfolio is in Latin America, 24% in Australia and Southeast Asia; 23% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; 18% in Spain and 8% in North America.
For its part, Acciona Energy, which consolidates within the group’s perimeter, boosted its revenues by 40%, after installing a total of 557 megawatts (MW) and reaching a total capacity of 11.2 gigawatts (GW).
Regarding the rest of the activities, the Real Estate area decreased its income by 5.7% as a result of the lower number of homes delivered in the period -443 compared to 744 in 2020, while Bestinver, its manager of funds and pension plans , increased its turnover by 12.1%, reaching funds under management of 7,046 million euros.
