While from other parts of the world it is expected, the Tokyo Game Show tries to return to normal. As revealed by CESA, organizer of the event, Nikkei and Dentsu, the 2022 edition of the Japanese fair will no longer be digital, but will return to being a real trade fair event in the presence of professionals and the public. This is a very important announcement, which could also push other events in the sector (such as the Gamescom in Cologne) to make this decision.
As announced by CESA, the Tokyo Game Show 2022 will be held from 15 to 18 September at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The event will be open to everyone, just like the last edition before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there will be limitations: elementary school students and small children in general will not be able to access, due to the very few people vaccinated in those age groups.
Limitations also present for the general public. In fact, for the Tokyo Game Show 2022 it will not be possible to fill the entire location: the numbers of tickets on sale will obviously depend on the guidelines regarding the capacities for the arenas and fairs in general. In short, we are far from the classic event, full of public and with many tickets sold, but it is at least a start. Clearly all these details could change and undergo changes: no one can anticipate the pandemic and the health situation in the countrytherefore, in order to have clearer information on access and on how to carry it out, it will be necessary to wait for the last few days before the start of the show.
Despite the return to normal, albeit partial, the organizers of the Tokyo Game Show will not give up live streaming. As specified by the organizationin fact, most of the panels and conferences will be broadcast live in both English and Japanese. Excellent news, especially for all those who will not be able to access the building due to the scarcity of tickets or geographical distance.
