Ford E-Transit, the electric van makes its debut in Italy. Up to 317 km of autonomy

Ford E-Transit is the first commercial vehicle from the house of the Blue Oval fully electric. The American manufacturer has chosen Milan to present to the Italian market this new battery-powered model. A van that aims to offer the same qualities of the endothermic model that has achieved so much success over time, with the added advantages of electric traction. It will arrive in dealerships during the spring of 2022. In Italy, prices start at 48,500 euros (excluding VAT).

AT THE SERVICE OF THE WORLD OF WORK

The new Ford E-Transit offers customers a wide choice of versions for the body, wheelbase, roof height and total mass (GVM), offering up to 25 possible variants between van, double cab van and chassis cabs. The net payload reaches 1,758 kg in the van version and up to 2,090 kg in the cab models.

The vehicle has been designed to satisfy most of the demands of professionals. The powertrain adopts a single electric motor capable of delivering 135 kW (184 hp) or 198 kW (269 hp) of maximum power with a torque of 430 Nm. The engine is powered by a battery with a capacity of 68 kWh able to offer autonomy that arrives up to 317 km according to the WLTP cycle.

The function is expressly designed for the world of work ProPower Onboard which allows you to power external electrical devices up to a power of 2.3 kW. Sockets are located in the cockpit and cargo area to power tools, lights, laptops and conversions such as refrigeration units.

Speaking of charging, the accumulator can be supplied with energy to one maximum direct current power of 115 kW. In this scenario, it takes 34 minutes to go from 15% to 80% capacity. In alternating current, however, the battery can be recharged up to 11.3 kW.

Ford E-Transit will provide all customers with complete standard equipment. In particular, in Italy, it will be offered in a single Trendsetting. As standard, among other things, we will find the electronic temperature control, the SYNC 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch display, the Keyless Start system, heated seats, Quickclear windshield and heated electric mirrors.

There will obviously be several ADAS systems to make driving safer. We will find, for example, Cruise Control, Pre Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keeping Aid.

As mentioned above, the new Ford E-Transit features the SYNC 4 infotainment system. This platform will be able to plan the most efficient route and update drivers on charging, traffic, parking availability in real-time, as well as finding spots. of interest such as charging stations, cafes or ATMs nearby.

Thanks to OTA updates via Ford Power Up, E-Transit’s software and SYNC will continuously benefit from new features introduced. Ford also offers a suite of software and services that improve productivity, uptime and operating costs for businesses.

For instance, Ford Telematics allows customers to monitor and manage vehicle health, along with charging management, EV alerts, vehicle accident and safety alerts, and even customized driver training plans.

Through the Telematics dashboard, operators can view real-time data relating to their E-Transit fleet, such as vehicle location, range and state of charge, and can track and geolocate their vehicles.

Drivers can also benefit from a full range of features to optimize vehicle usage, including the ability to easily submit details of any vehicle problem using the Telematics Drive App, associate with specific vehicles, locate available charging points using the SYNC 4 system, and easily identify home charging costs that require reimbursement, without the need to submit separate expense reports.

In addition, all E-Transit vehicles are also fully integrated into the FORD Live connected uptime system, the free, integrated and connected service available to Ford commercial vehicle operators that allows them to maximize uptime using real-time vehicle health data.
