The Game Awards: youtuber solves an unsolved mystery for 4 years

The work that well-known presenter Geoff Keighley is carrying out with the The Game Awards he managed to give a lot of importance to what, in the space of a few years, has become a real traditional end-of-year event much awaited by fans. In addition to awarding the best video games of the year, the gala allows us to see a series of announcements related to the titles coming in the following years, and this generates a lot of excitement.

Now, not everyone was aware that The Game Awards have been hiding a very particular mystery for several years. In the 2018 edition, in fact, the award given to the best independent game was never received by the winners: the guys from Extremely OK Games, authors of the acclaimed Celeste. The thing had never leaked until today, when the well-known youtuber known on the net as ‘PrestigeIsKey’ has lifted the veil on a miserable that had lasted for four years now.

This guy has posted a video in which he says he bought on eBay what he thought was a replica of the statuette given as a prize on the evenings of The Game Awards. Much to the youtuber’s surprise, however, the boy soon found out having found himself in possession of the original statue which should have ended up in the offices of Extremely OK Games.

Learning of this curious fact, the boy immediately contacted the development team revealing that he found himself in possession of the award. Heidy Motta of Extremely OK Games immediately responded to the boy, revealing that that trophy had never been sent to the team after the gala four years ago. The youtuber himself thought of bringing the prize back to the offices of the Canadian studio, who sent the package containing the trophy to the owners.
