Gran Turismo 7 is already in the hands of the players, but there is insult!

According to what was reported on Twitter, Reddit and the GTPlanet forum, several US players have already received their copies of Gran Turismo 7 for PS5 and PS4. To have broken the day one, however, it was not the physical stores but Amazon, which delivered the new racing game of the series well in advance, which this year celebrates 25 years of life.

Although the copies are already in the hands of the players, unfortunately at the moment they are practically unusable. Gran Turismo 7 in fact, provide an active Internet connection to be able to play and access almost all the contents of the game. With the game’s servers still locked (except for the editors who are working on the review), at the moment those who have received the physical copy so far in advance can only access a small portion of the game.

“I was able to visit the dealership and buy a car, go to the garage and … that’s it,” reads a post published on Reddit. In short, at the moment all those who have received the copy of the Polyphony Digital racing game cannot try it in preview the Campaign, the livery editor, the Photo Mode, the GT Cafè and GT Auto hub. Not quite the ideal situation, considering how expected the new title in the series was.

There is a very specific reason why Gran Turismo 7 always requires an active connection to play. To explain it he thought about it in recent months Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony, in an interview with Eurogamer. “We require an active Internet connection to avoid cheating, possibly possible through a change to the save file,” said the development team CEO. Any game element linked with a save file, therefore, is subject to this requirement.

Gran Turismo 7 will be available starting March 4, 2022, for PS4 and PS5. Keep following Tom’s Hardware for all the news and announcements in the pipeline from the world of video games.
