Musk fined for pollution at the Fremont factory

Teslawhich is defined as the most sustainable and green manufacturer in the worldrecently received a fine from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for a violation of the Clean Air Act, that is the United States legislation for the protection of the environment. Elon Musk’s company Tesla therefore received a fine of just under 250 thousand euros for having passed the lpollution level in the paint shop of the Fremont, California factory.

It is, on balance, one symbolic fine which however creates a image damage not indifferent. More specifically, Tesla has violated the provisions of the regulation National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Surface Coating of Automobiles between October 2016 and September 2019. The EPA accuses Tesla of failing to “develop and / or implement a work planning program capable of minimizing the emissions of hazardous air pollutants, produced by the storage and mixing of liquids used in vehicle painting operations“And not to have compiled the specific registers reporting the data relating to emissions.

In the note, reported directly on the official EPA website, Tesla allegedly used over 180 chemicals known or suspected of causing cancer or other serious health effects; the Californian manufacturer, during the construction phases of its cars, would have used materials containing formaldehyde, ethylbenzene, naphthalene and xylene. Tesla, we read, it has already corrected the violations found in the agreements and is now a fully-fledged Clean Air Act compliant company.
