Renault Austral, a sketch anticipates the design of the SUV

After showing some camouflaged forklifts and having provided some advances on the engines and interiors, Renault has shared a sketch which anticipates a number of design elements that we will see on new SUV Austral. The French carmaker says it wants to offer one last “peek” of its new model before the official presentation scheduled for 8 March.

As in all sketches, some lines are taken to extremes but there are still a number of interesting ideas that can be underlined. The new SUV will feature front and rear skis, contrasting side and underbody protectors, ground clearance and a high waistline to ensure occupant protection.

The top of the large checkerboard grille is crossed by a horizontal chrome line that continues into the headlights. This is a choice that will allow you to visually give the front of the vehicle a greater width. The SUV, says Renault, will have Full LED headlights. At the front, the new Austral integrates the C-Shape light signature that characterizes Renault models. The central and lateral air intakes located on the front bumper, the inclination of the roof and the lines of the sides contribute to create a visual effect of aerodynamic efficiency. Also present the new logo of the French manufacturer.

We created the exterior design of the New Austral based on the new ‘sensual tech’ language of the Renault brand. The result is realized in the combination of generous shapes, rounded shoulders, protruding hips with the integration of refined technical details such as high-tech headlights that reinforce the identity of the design.

As we know, the new Renault Austral will replace the current Kadjar SUV. Therefore, it will be a very important model for the French manufacturer and its growth strategy. This new SUV rests on the same platform used by the new Nissan Qashqai. Inside the cockpit we will find a lot of technology. There will be two screens, one for the instrumentation and one for the actual infotainment for a total of 24.3 inches.

Under the hood of the new Renault Austral we will only find electrified units. There will also be a new generation E-TECH Hybrid unit. The most performing model will be able to count on 200 hp (147 kW). The presentation on March 8 will be held in digital format.
