Samsung and updates a turning point is coming

That of updates is a decidedly hot topic in the Android world and among the manufacturers who have been paying more attention to this aspect for some time now, trying to offer their customers an increasingly better service, we undoubtedly also find Samsung.

The Korean giant has already decided in the past to bring the guaranteed software support for operating system updates from 2 to 3 years, “forcing” other manufacturers to do the same thing and, according to the latest rumors, now Samsung intends to raise the bar further.

Samsung may extend software support by one year

It seems, in fact, that the manufacturer for a series of devices would have decided to bring from 3 to 4 years the period of guaranteed software support regarding operating system updates And 4 to 5 years for security updates.

According to what is reported by BDTech on Twitterat the moment the following devices would benefit from this new update policy:

  • Samsung Galaxy S21 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S22 series
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S7
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab S8

In the event that these rumors prove to be founded, whoever decides to buy one of the models of the Galaxy S22 series, which will make its debut on the market with Android 12, should be able to rely on updates of the OS until 2026 and could aspire to even receive Android 16.

Obviously, such a decision by the Korean giant would have the effect of extending the life of its flagship devices and could push many people to decide to buy them to rely on a phone or a tablet that has a rather long duration over time.

Furthermore, with such a move, Samsung would put the other major Android manufacturers “back to the wall”, such as Xiaomi, which for some time has not concealed its desire to become the No. 1 in the mobile sector.

To find out more, we just have to make an appointment with you at the launch event of the Galaxy S22 series, scheduled for tomorrow.
