Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, S8 + and S8 Ultra technical specifications revealed

Among the novelties coming to the Galaxy range of Samsung, there are not only the new ones Galaxy S22 but also the still unpublished ones Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. The new tablet family of the Korean house will arrive on the market in three variants, following the same pattern as the top-of-the-range smartphones (Tab S8, Tab S8 +, and Tab S8 Ultra). Samsung is expected to unveil the new tablets over the next few weeks with their arrival on the market expected by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

Waiting for the announcement by the company, in these hours a new leak we confirm the complete technical specifications of all three variants of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 also providing new images of the tablets. So let’s see all the information available on the three devices with which Samsung will renew its range of high-end tablets in the coming months.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8 +, and Tab S8 Ultra: the complete specifications

The new ones Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8 +, and Tab S8 Ultra they will have several points in common, both on the software side and from the hardware point of view, but also substantial differences regarding the technical datasheet. Let’s start with the elements that will unite the three tablets. All three devices will be able to count on the new one Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, the new top-of-the-range chipset from Qualcomm.

The SoC will be joined by 8 GB of RAM (there are no variants of 6 GB or less for the new Tab S8) and from 128/256 GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD. The only Tab S8 Ultra can also count on 8 or 16 GB of RAM come on 128/512 GB of internal storage, always expandable via microSD. The connectivity sector will include USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi ax, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, ANT +. The three tablets will be available both in the Wi-Fi version and invariants with 5G support.

For what concern compartment photographic, all three variants of the Tab S8 family will feature a dual rear camera with 13 Megapixel main sensor (f / 2.0) and 6 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.2). The sensors will also be supported by an LED flash. The front camera will be 12 Megapixel (f / 2.4) with the Ultra which will also have a second 12 Megapixel (f / 2.2) camera. All three tablets will feature the operating system as standard Android 12 with Samsung One UI 4.1.

Let us now turn to the display. In this case, the three Samsung tablets will present substantial differences with the Ultra which will reach a record diagonal for a tablet equal to 14.6 inches. Here are the details:

  • Galaxy Tab S8: 11 inches, LTPS TFT, 500 cd / m², 276 PPI; 2560 x 1600 pixels, 120 Hz
  • Galaxy Tab S8 +: 12.7 inches, Super AMOLED, 420 cd / m², 266 PPI; 2800 x 1752 pixels, 120 Hz
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: 14.6 inches, Super AMOLED, 420 cd / m², 240 PPI; 2960 x 1848 pixels, 120 Hz

It should be noted that the Tab S8 Ultra, to make room for the double front chamber, will integrate the already anticipated notch, a solution similar to the one that Apple has chosen for the new MacBook Pro 14 and 16 and which can be seen in the two renderings attached below that anticipate the design of the new Ultra.

Also, their battery integration will be different. The Galaxy Tab S8 will be able to count on an 8,000 mAh battery while the S8 + will present a 10,090 mAh battery. The Ultra version, on the other hand, will integrate an 11,200 mAh battery. At the moment, it is unclear what type of fast charging will be supported. Samsung is about to launch a new 45W charger which could also be supported by the new Tab S8 (as well as by the new S22 smartphones).

Different displays and batteries will also entail dimensions and weight differences for the three Samsung tablets. Here are the details:

  • Galaxy Tab S8: 253.8 x 165.4 x 6.3 mm for a weight of 507 grams
  • Galaxy Tab S8 +: 285 x 185x 5.7 mm for a weight of 567 grams
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra: 208.6 x 326.4 x 5.5 mm for a weight of 728 grams

To underline the very small thickness of the Ultra variant which will stop at just 5.5 mm making it one of the thinnest tablets ever. Among the other technical specifications of the new Galaxy Tab S8, we will find support for the S-Pen (with palm and handwriting recognition), Gorilla Glass 5 to protect the display, and a four stereo speaker system.

The prices of the new tablets from Samsung

For the time being, pricing information for the new Galaxy Tab S8 is limited. It will be necessary to wait for further updates to get a more precise picture of the matter. The first hypotheses see the Galaxy Tab S8 position yourself between 680 and 900 euros while for the Tab S8 + it will take between 880 and 1,100 euros. The top of the range Tab S8 Ultra will start from approx 1,040 EUR to get, with its top version, up to 1,200 euros.
