MG anticipates the arrival of a new electric rival of the Volkswagen ID.3

Apparently, MG will debut a new electric in 2022. The presentation is expected in the fourth quarter of the year. The announcement came through the automaker’s social channels. The shared details are very scarce, for the moment. From what MG has told, this car will have a length of 4.3 meters and has been designed to meet the needs of European customers.

Given the clues provided by MG, it can be assumed that this battery-powered car could compete directly with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3. Its dimensions place it squarely between the current MG 3 and the MG 5 station wagon, which makes it likely that this new car can be called MG 4. MG also plans to introduce a new family of electric vehicles designed to bring younger people closer. Given the mini video teaser that shows a conceptually different design from that of the current models in the MG range, it is possible that this new car could be the first product designed specifically for younger customers.

No details have been disclosed, for the moment, regarding the powertrain. However, it is possible that MG decides to use the one present in the MG5 Electric which we also got to see closely. Thus, a 156 hp (115 kW) electric powertrain powered by a 61.1 kWh battery. For the moment, however, it is only speculation. It will also be interesting to understand what the brand means by a car developed with European customers in mind. It could be a reference to the design or content that the car will propose.

From what can be seen so far, the project looks interesting. All that remains is to wait for further information from the manufacturer. Given that the debut is expected by the end of the year, it is likely that more news will arrive over the next few months.
